Stay in the towers of the Walburgis church
Six apartments, six stories.
Each accommodation is themed around a key moment, person or place from Arnhem’s past or present — from the Battle of Arnhem to the Roman frontier, from Louis Bonaparte to the Kröller-Müller Museum.
Whether you’re drawn to history, culture or nature, this is Arnhem at its most unique — in one of the city’s most iconic buildings.
Six unique stays in the towers of the Walburgis church
Our six guest accommodations are located in the two towers of the historic Walburgis church in Arnhem, each one inspired by a person, place or story connected to the city and its surroundings.
The theme History is reflected in three of the apartments. The Battle of Arnhem Penthouse pays tribute to one of the most dramatic events of the Second World War. The Roman Fort Grand Suite looks back even further, to the days when this area marked the northern frontier of the Roman Empire. The Louis Bonaparte Grand Suite, named after the first king of the Netherlands, refers to the moment in history when the church was reopened for Catholic worship under his reign.
Under the theme Pride, the focus shifts to what Arnhem is known for today. The Burgers’ Zoo Penthouse celebrates one of Europe’s leading wildlife parks. The Rietveld Suite and the Helene Kröller-Müller Suite were designed in collaboration with the Kröller-Müller Museum and reflect the region’s close ties to modern art, architecture and design.
Together, these six accommodations offer a rich and varied impression of Arnhem — past and present, nature and culture — all within the quiet seclusion of two medieval towers. More than just a comfortable stay, they offer a unique place to experience the story of this remarkable city.
Apartments in the Church Towers
Each of our six apartments offers a balance of historic character and everyday comfort.
Every stay includes a smart TV with streaming services, Wi-Fi, and a fully equipped kitchen featuring an induction cooktop, oven, fridge, and dishwasher.
The two towers each contain three separate apartments, one on every level:
a Grand Suite (for 4 guests) at the base,
a Suite (for 2 guests) in the middle,
and a Penthouse (for 4 guests) at the top.
All apartments are accessible by elevator, though stairs are also present in the towers.

Battle of Arnhem Penthouse
This impressive 4-person Penthouse has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen/living room and a Private Rooftop Terrace with a view of Arnhem and its surroundings in all directions.
This apartment tells the story of the events in the battle of Arnhem during the Second World War, in which the Rhine Bridge (nowadays: John Frost Bridge) played a prominent role – a period that is commemorated annually during the Airborne Commemorations in September.

This beautiful and green 4-person Penthouse has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen/living room and a French balcony. On the Private Rooftop Terrace, next to the bell frame, you have a great view of Arnhem and the surrounding area in all directions.
The theme of this apartment was inspired by the Mangrove in Burgers’ Zoo, where, in addition to lots of lush green, you’ll encounter countless beautiful butterflies, beckoning crabs, reptiles, manatees and birds of paradise.

Roman Fort Grand Suite
This stylish 4-person suite, which is also very suitable as a honeymoon suite, has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen/living room.
The theme of this residence is a reference to the Roman castellum excavated in the Meinerswijk district of Arnhem, south of the Rhine. The fortress was built between 10 and 20, possibly in preparation for the last Germanic campaign of Germanicus Caesar in AD 16. It was part of the Limes, the northern border of the Roman Empire, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since July 2021
In the room you will experience a beautiful mix of contemporary luxury and rich history with numerous references to the Roman past.

Louis Bonaparte Grand Suite
This majestic 4-person suite, which is also very suitable as a honeymoon suite, has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen/living room.
The residence is furnished with the allure of the royal palace on Dam Square, which King Louis Bonaparte had converted from town hall into a ceremonial residential palace. The decoration contrasts beautifully with the Gothic interior of the church tower.

Rietveld Suite
This museum-like double room has a mezzanine with a bedroom and a bathroom, a kitchen/living room and a French balcony.
The interior of this apartment is an ode to Park Sonsbeek and the international art exhibition that takes place there every four years. The interior was created in collaboration with Museum Kröller-Müller in park De Hoge Veluwe.
In 1955, the artist Gerrit Rietveld achieved world fame during the 3rd edition of the exhibition by surprising the international art and construction world with his pavilion. Today, his creation adorns the museum’s beautiful gardens, where it houses sculptures. In this room you will not only find photo wallpaper with the Sonsbeek Park and Rietveld’s pavilion, but also furniture and a lamp designed by him.
